Going Dark is a series of photographs that document the closure of theatres across the West End and Greater London during the 2020/21 Covid-19 pandemic.
 
Like a time capsule, it is a snapshot of this moment in time that modern London has not seen before, theatre doors closed, virtually deserted streets, lights turned off. A dash of colour provides hope that those of us in the industry will see our beloved theatres restored to their former glory prepandemic.

Alongside the images, people from within the theatre community to share their personal stories about these buildings they call home. Some speak to that night on Monday 16th March, when theatreland was shut down. Others provide fond memories of what these buildings mean to them and their community. It is clear these buildings are more than just a workplace for those who inhabit them.
